European or American size?
Ring sizes differ per part of the world, and sometimes even within one country. In Europe you will mostly come across two systems: the European ring size and the American (USA) size. The table below shows how they relate.

How to find your ring size
You can determine your ring size in a few ways: with a ring stick or ring gauge, using the table above, or by measuring the circumference of your finger. Always measure at room temperature — with heat or cold your fingers become a little thicker or thinner. Also keep in mind that a wide ring fits more snugly: take it half a millimetre larger. For a very narrow ring, the opposite applies.
The easiest method
The simplest way is to measure a ring that already fits you well. Measure the inner diameter in the middle in millimetres — that number is your size. In the example below it is 18 mm (the drawing is not to scale).
